USPA NEWS - General Secretary Meda Srinivas alleges vested interests among advocates, calls for accountability in safeguarding lawyers' rights.

Silence On Attacks In Telugu States Questioned

Meda Srinivas criticized certain lawyer associations for their lack of response to the violence against lawyers in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. “It is unfortunate that these associations are boycotting their duties and staging protests over the Tamil Nadu incident while ignoring the murders and attacks on lawyers in Telugu states,” he remarked.
Inhumane Attack On Tamil Nadu Lawyer Condemned

Andhra Lawyers Association (ALA) General Secretary Meda Srinivas strongly condemned the recent attack on a lawyer in Tamil Nadu, calling it an inhuman and heinous act. He emphasized the urgent need for justice and protection for lawyers nationwide, while questioning the selective activism of some legal associations.
Allegations Against Leaders Supporting Corporates And Political Agendas

Srinivas accused some lawyer leaders of serving corporate and political interests rather than protecting their peers. He alleged that these leaders have used lawyers' movements, including protests against the Land Titling Act, to benefit political parties instead of advocating for genuine legal reforms. “Not a single corporate-backed political representative participated in that movement,” he pointed out.
Future Of Young Lawyers Jeopardized By Misguided Leadership

Highlighting the consequences of such misrepresentation, Srinivas said, “Many young lawyers are being deceived into participating in unnecessary protests, filing cases, and inadvertently harming their careers.” He also criticized leaders for failing to respond to judgments that undermine the dignity of legal professionals and institutions in the region.
ALA’s Commitment to Lawyers’ Safety

Meda Srinivas reiterated that the ALA, under its founding leader SR Sanku, has consistently worked for the safety and rights of lawyers. “We remain dedicated to ensuring the well-being and future of legal professionals in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and beyond,” he affirmed.

The ALA called on all lawyer associations to prioritize the rights and safety of their members over political or corporate affiliations, urging solidarity in addressing systemic issues in the profession.
